Millions of letters are sent in Germany every day. One envelope - different uses

Every normal envelope can be used for different purposes. The conventional envelopes are usually available in DIN long format and are particularly suitable for paper in DIN A4 format. On the one hand, they are available in different sizes, then in the colours white as well as brown and on the other hand with a self-adhesive closure or one for moistening on its own. There are also two variants regarding the recipient address option - either with a transparent window or the simple variant where you write down the address on your own.

Classic business letter: Official letters and general business correspondence are usually sent in the envelope formats DIN C5/6, DIN C6/5 or DIN C4. A4 paper must be folded horizontally twice for envelopes in the first two formats - this way it fits easily into the envelope.

Documents: When sending contracts, certificates or diplomas, DIN C4 envelopes are usually used. As a rule, these documents must not be folded or creased. They fit perfectly into the envelope provided. The envelopes are available in both landscape and portrait format - the opening is then either on the long or short side.

Private letters and invitations: In most households, you will find DIN C6 format envelopes for private letters. This is the standard format for cards - greeting cards, invitations, birthday cards and Christmas cards.
