Many of us turn to the laptop and quickly find what we're looking for. The previous problem: the delivery time of two to three days, which has already driven some to despair. But that's supposed to be over now! "One day delivery" or "Order today – delivered today" is the solution.

Amazon: One day delivery

For years, Amazon has been advertising its fast delivery service. Previously, the slogan was "Next day delivery," but for some time now, the popular online shop has been offering "Same day" delivery. This means delivery on the same day the order is placed. Too good to be true? From now on, it's reality!

Amazon and Co.: Delivered today

Those who use the Amazon Prime service benefit from exclusive advantages: Millions of items are delivered free of charge via premium shipping. This also includes the cost-effective morning express shipping, which can often be very useful. Prime members can stream numerous series and movies for free and listen to over a million songs via Prime Music. Additionally, customers are given access to the Kindle lending library. Another profit point is the premium access to lightning deals, which has already made some hearts beat faster. The "one day delivery" shipping is also made attractive to Prime members: From a minimum order value of 20 euros, it is free for them. For the proud price of 9.99 euros per order, non-Prime members also receive delivery on the same day.
Sounds incredible? However, it is already reality, and for many online shoppers, a wish comes true!
In addition to Amazon, the "Order today – delivered today" service is offered by numerous other online shops. This especially expands the shopping framework: From now on, groceries and products that could otherwise spoil or go bad quickly can also be ordered online.

Customers of the Zalando online shop can also look forward to the "one day delivery" service. Currently, Zalando is testing this in Berlin, for example. However, whether and when the service will be introduced will be decided at the beginning of 2016. It also remains open whether Zalando delivery will remain free as before.

The electronics giant Mediamarkt/Saturn also attracts with "Order today – delivered today." The purchased items, whether in-store or online, are delivered to the customer's home within 30 minutes to three hours (or at a desired time). This service has the strong price of 14.95 euros per order, but it is definitely worth it!

"Order today – delivered today" or "one day delivery" – this type of shipping is new territory in the field of online shopping, but it was not entirely unknown before. The shipping provider DHL has been offering the express service for several years. Same Day Express is possible in Germany and worldwide and is often a lifesaver in emergencies. The new service of the shipping giant builds on this: The DHL courier. Orders are delivered by the courier service at the desired time on the same day. Shops like Amazon and Co. work with DHL, making it possible to deliver goods on the same day at the times 6-8 PM and 8-10 PM.

Conclusion: If you want to avoid shopping stress in the city or don't have time to get this and that, the "Order today – delivered today" service of online shops is a great solution. The service is ideal not only for spontaneous purchases but also for grocery deliveries. Another advantage is that as a customer, you always know at what (desired) time the order will be delivered. The relatively high shipping costs can be overlooked, after all, same-day delivery is often urgently needed. However, the actual delivery is somewhat difficult, as so far only 14 German metropolitan areas are among the providers of the "Order today – delivered today" service. In major cities like Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Cologne, same-day delivery is possible, but in smaller cities and villages, this service still needs to be introduced.
In the future, more and more online shops will certainly offer the "one day delivery" service, and more and more customers will take advantage of it. The problematic situation in the logistics centers should not be overlooked. Certainly, this will not improve with the increasing demand for same-day deliveries.
