Food and Beverage Cartons: Bottle Cartons and Bag-in-Box Packaging
Shipping a bottle requires more than just any carton. Glass bottles are usually heavy and fragile, and in case of damage, the worst-case scenario must be considered. Packaging for wine and sparkling wine bottles therefore has special requirements for parcel shipping. BOXXCO’s bottle cartons are DHL-certified, demonstrating the particularly sturdy construction and corrugated cardboard used. Each bottle is first wrapped in a protective corrugated sleeve before being placed in the outer carton, with a total of four layers of cardboard cushioning the glass inside. This design prevents breakage even if a package is dropped from over 1 meter.
Single-wall bottle cartons, on the other hand, are better suited for pallet shipments. They are highly stackable, allowing multiple layers to be placed on a European pallet. Safe food and beverage shipping is therefore fully ensured!
In addition to bottle cartons, BOXXCO offers a wide range of Bag-in-Box (BiB) packaging. A Bag-in-Box offers the advantage over bottles that more volume (liters) can be sold and used per packaging unit. Thanks to its rectangular shape, the Bag-in-Box can be stored easily and space-efficiently. Shelf life is not compromised either. With the inner bag filled airtight via hot-fill, juices, wines, and similar products remain fresh at room temperature for many months.

The packaging systems for food and beverage shipping, consisting of outer cartons and insulating inserts, maintain constant temperatures in the sub-zero or single-digit Celsius range for several hours. Inserts are made from Styrofoam or multi-layer aluminum-coated bubble wrap. Additionally, gel-filled cooling pads or sturdy reusable ice packs with a solid plastic casing can be used.
