Moving properly is a skill to be learned! Besides changing your address, switching providers, and renovation work, packing boxes is one of the biggest challenges when moving out. Many people get creative in their search for suitable storage options and resort to laundry baskets, old computer boxes, or tote bags. This colorful assortment of packaging may save you from buying moving boxes, but it can unnecessarily complicate your move.
The Checklist for the Right Box
Purchased cheaply in the box shop and well packed, the right box can make your move much easier! It is important that it is a moving box, as it has many advantages over regular boxes. For one, it is much more tear-resistant, allowing for significantly more items to fit inside. Additionally, these boxes are the same size, making them easier to stack. Another advantage is their stability: with double-reinforced handles, they are easy to carry and can be stored in the basement as they are less sensitive to moisture.
Even after moving out, the boxes won't be in the way for long: fold the moving box and store it until the next move!
Depending on the intended use and load limit, moving boxes come in different sizes and designs. Most box shops offer not only the standard size for your move but also boxes with higher load limits in their range. We offer you not only standard boxes but also book boxes. These have a higher load limit and are suitable for heavy items such as books or files.
A moving box is usually delivered flat and costs between 1-2 euros new. With us, they can be ordered from as few as 10 pieces. Especially for larger moves, it is worth ordering several boxes. The advantage here is that they can also serve as storage options. For example, you can store old books in the basement or keep your summer clothes on the wardrobe.
If the move is already imminent, next-day delivery is even possible if the order is placed by 12 noon.
How to Properly Pack Your Belongings
Your move can get hectic – the temptation is great to quickly throw everything into the moving boxes, which can lead to things breaking or the box not being optimally utilized. However, with the right packing technique, you can fit much more into your boxes and find them more easily later.
-
Use Packing Materials:
Especially for fragile items like dishes, it is advisable to use additional packing materials. Use packing paper and cushioning or filling materials to better protect porcelain. Special films are suitable for mirrors and other fragile items to protect glass surfaces. To ensure proper packaging, we have boxes in sets where bubble wrap is included for free. Use edge and corner protection for furniture pieces that are too large for moving boxes – it often happens that corners get damaged during carrying.
-
Pay Attention to the Weight:
When filling the moving boxes, remember that you – or your loved ones – will have to carry each box. Therefore, don't let it get too heavy and combine light and heavy items – this way, the space is utilized, but the movers are not overloaded.
-
From Bottom to Top:
When filling the boxes, pay attention to the order: pack heavy items at the very bottom and light ones on top – this way, you can still fill the moving box with light things like clothing.
- Labeling: To prevent your move from ending in a "box nirvana," make sure that all boxes are labeled during your move. Labeling by rooms (dining room, children's room, etc.) is suitable. This way, all items are already where they should be, and you can easily find dishes and more.
