Second Deliveries with DHL

Who hasn't experienced this – you've purchased your favorite item from an online shop and had it delivered to your home. Now the question arises, when will your package be delivered and will you be able to receive it? For working customers, delivery times are often inconvenient. Those who work during the day face the problem that the goods cannot be accepted due to absence. DHL shipping usually makes only one delivery attempt. If customers miss the delivery, the package is usually left at the nearest branch, Packstation, or with a neighbor. Requirements for Redelivery for DHL and DHL Express

If your customer misses the DHL delivery – no problem! The second delivery can be easily and free of charge ordered. It can be ordered on the DHL homepage for express deliveries. For regular shipments, a new delivery date can be arranged by phone at 0228-28609898 (local rate). It is also possible to request a delivery online via the homepage. The delivery date can be freely chosen, but must be within the specified shipping period.

To ensure that DHL shipping redelivers the package, your delivery must meet the following requirements.

  1. A redelivery is possible at the earliest two working days after the order is placed. However, if you urgently need your delivery and do not want to wait any longer, we recommend using self-collection at the branch or Packstation.
  2. The redelivery can be requested during the period in which the package is stored at the Packstation or branch; packages are usually stored there for seven working days.
  3. Please note that the redelivery must be sent to the original recipient address – a redelivery to the workplace is unfortunately not possible. The reason for this is that the branch and address are in the same delivery district. If the delivery address changes, the package would first have to be sent to another delivery area, which would delay the redelivery.
  4. The redelivery is possible for the DHL Paket National product and for international parcel shipments. A second delivery for parcels or letters cannot be arranged – these can be picked up as usual at the Packstation or in the nearest branch. Book Redelivery for Express Shipments Online

For deliveries with DHL Express, please note that the redelivery attempt is not automatically made. Instead, you will receive a notification card indicating which express branch you can pick up your package from. Unlike regular shipments, express delivery allows the shipment to be sent to another delivery address or another express station, provided this address is in the same delivery area. Since these branches, unlike DHL branches, are located outside the city center, it is advisable to request an automatic redelivery. Here too, you can commission DHL shipping free of charge with a second delivery. By providing the reference number, a new delivery date can be individually determined and sent to the desired address. Alternatively, you have the option to request the redelivery by phone.
